Fearless Friday! Thirty “Something”

Fearless Friday! Thirty “Something” was written by guest contributor, Jennifer Cleveland.

Today I celebrate my thirty “something” birthday; which has got me thinking quite a bit about where I am now, how far I’ve come and how wildly expansive it’s all been along the way! No by thirty “something” I don’t have it all figured out but my deep personal fulfillment today inspired me to share some insight on a couple things I did in my twenties that have made my thirties “enlightened” and set me up for a bad ass decade…

Got Sober~

I entered my twenties healing from a very unhealthy lifestyle in my adolescence. My sobriety was a time of awakening and the foundation of building my self-esteem and discovering who I truly was. It was a decision that totally redirected my path, changed my circle, forced me to face my demons and fall in love with my light. The process of defeating my own darkness has led me closer to my life’s purpose and given me the divine wisdom to awaken others. Today I still enjoy a drink in moderation and enjoy a night out on occasion but the scenery has definitely changed!

Traveled~

My twenties were full of adventure. I’ve spontaneously packed my car and headed out on road trips across the states, traveled solo up and down the East coast, spent weekends in Miami and even drove out of the country to Mexico. I’ve flown to exotic locations, seen an erupting volcano in Costa Rica, climbed a waterfall, visited Bob Marley’s grave in Jamaica and walked the 7mile beach and hung with the locals in Grand Cayman (just to name a few!). We gain a lot of commitment as we age and there’s so much to see and do. Traveling to places outside our comfort zone allows us to truly immerse ourselves in other cultures, question what we believe, reevaluate our priorities and most importantly to me was learning to value experience over possessions.❤

Let Shit Go!~

I devoted a lot energy and gave away a lot of my power to people that have wronged me in the past. A lot of the hurt and bitterness from my childhood and adolescence was brought with me into my relationships in my twenties. My Taurus tendency’s made me stubborn when it came to forgiving, I didn’t take full responsibility for my own happiness and blocked a lot of great new experiences because I was stuck reliving the past. Fast-forward to today and my forgiveness game is strong! “Letting go” has created the space to attract peace and happiness into my life. I have learned that just because someone’s hurt you in the past doesn’t give him or her any power in the “Now.”
