You don’t need things to be happy

“You don’t need things to be happy” was written by guest contributor Babajide Faseyi.

When you were a little child, at an age before you knew that you could acquire things or lose things, you knew how to be happy.

When you were a little child, at an age before you knew that buying a house or marrying a spouse could make you happy, you still knew how to enter into your happiness from any moment.

But now that you’re grown and you’ve learned that you can acquire things and lose things, your learning should never have pushed away your ability to be happy.

Because of what use would it be to learn something that takes you further away from what you’ve always wanted in the first place, which is the happiness of your own heart?

Can you remember a time in your younger days when happiness was like a door that you could open at anytime? Can you remember a time when happiness was always within your reach and it wasn’t because of the things that you had or did not have?

 Blessings, Babajide

About the Author: My name is Babajide Faseyi.  I was born and raised in Nigeria and then moved to the United States for college at the age of 19.  In my 20’s, I became acutely aware that there was more to life than I had been taught and this led me to a deep search.  I read voraciously.  After a period of disillusionment with not having an outlet for the creativity that I felt within myself, I encountered Eckhart Tolle’s book, The Power of Now.  And thus, the journey of knowing who I truly am and the discovery of what I have to offer creatively began.  The links to my facebook pages where my writings are posted are –facebook.com/bababajide and facebook.com/babajideinc.
