Release the Negativity to Embrace the Positive!

Are you willing to release the negativity in your life?

As we all know, it’s hard to reach for something new when you are holding on to something old. For instance, it’s hard to start a new job if you are still working at the old one. It’s difficult to start a new romantic relationship if you’re still clinging to the old one.

The same is true for positive beliefs and expectations about your life and the world. It’s just not that easy to have positive expectations when we’re sitting on old negative expectations. It’s pretty challenging to establish positive behaviors and routines when we’re still engaged in toxic ones.

This is a lesson I’ve learned time and time again. When I finally let go of something negative in my life, new positive stuff comes swirling in. It’s just so much easier to embrace the positive when I release the negativity first.

So today, I’d like to encourage you to think about releasing the negative.

Ask yourself this question:

Is there something in your life you’ve been holding on to or clinging to that you know just isn’t working for you?

Now, truth be told, we all have negative things we are holding on to, so please don’t take this as a call to irradiate all negative behaviors and expectations at once! Rather, try to see it as one small step you can take at a time to make it easier for you to embrace the positive in life.

So start small. See if you can find one little “negative” thing in your life you can release today. Find something manageable to say goodbye to in order to allow more positive flow into your life.

Perhaps there is some smutty television show you’ve always watched, but you know it plays on your darker side. Or perhaps there is a snack or drink you have regularly that you enjoy, but you always feel guilty about indulging in.

Or maybe there’s some negative phrase you use commonly like “people suck” or “I hate my job.”

Seek for just one small negative place of focus in your life and release it today. Pick something manageable that you know you could say goodbye to today if you wanted to. This is a super simple thing we can do to make our lives instantly a little more positive.

Build momentum.

Once you’ve fully released this small piece of negativity from your life and you feel stable, pick another!

In time, it becomes easier and easier to let go of the negative, and easier and easier to embrace the positive. Life works on momentum, and when we start making conscious choices to let go of behaviors, ideas and thoughts that aren’t working for us, this choice takes root in all facets of our lives.

So if you feel so inspired, give it a go! Evaluate your life for just one small piece of negativity you can release today. Get the momentum moving in your favor.
