That makes sense, yeah may be we just give up that way of thinking. I have started to put across the positive thoughts everywhere may be while speaking, drafting a response and to even the matter training my mind to harp on the positive points all the time. So in the recent times i refrain from using words like “no, not, nothing and so on” when i try to respond using an other way i’ve been hit with weird replies for instance: i’m looking out for a job, so when my sister asks an update as to where am I in that search i say “i’m yet to find a new job” so she responds saying ‘Oh, you got an offer letter (how on earth this could be a response to what i said)” another example that we ordered some cosmetics online and we were awaiting delivery so she asked me to check at home if its arrived so i almost gave in the same response “it’s yet to arrive it seems” she says my response should have been “no, the delivery hasn’t come yet” My question is what should i do and why are many accustomed to hear the word “no, not yet and the other relative terms.

    Thank you!

Hi Anonymous! That is an interesting question!

The thing to realize is that people mirror back to us our own beliefs and expectations. I would probably say there is some underlying worry that people will misunderstand you OR that you have a belief that others are insistent on maintaining their negative points of view. There could also be other explanations for this repeating event.

When people say things to me that irritate me or make me feel bad in some way, I try to turn it inwards. I’ll ask myself: why does this bother me? What belief am I projecting that is being reflected back?

This helps me to identify what is going on internally. Once I realize what kinds of thoughts and beliefs I am carrying that are creating the aggravation, I then have the choice to release them.

    I hope this helps!

    XO, Andrea
