Are You Being Negative or Positive? 2 Tests to Find Out
Are you being negative in regards to one of your personal goals, or instead are you being positive?
If you are interested in the Law of Attraction, you’ve probably come to understand that when we are being negative we are unable to achieve our goals, but when we are positively focused it becomes much easier to get the things we want! You may also have noticed that sometimes it’s very easy to tell when you are being negative or positive, but other times it’s a little less obvious.
So if you would like to know if you are negatively or positively focused on a particular topic, I have devised two tests you can use whenever you like. You can use these tests to help you decide if you are being negative or positive in regards to your relationship, your job, your friendships, your money, your health, or any other area of your life that is important to you.
Test 1: The “Pros and Cons” List
The first test is fairly simple, write a pros and cons list! Get a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle. On the left, write down all of the good things you associate with your preferred topic, and in the right column write down all of the bad things you associate with it.
For example if the topic was “unicorns,” maybe under the pros column I would write “they are magical,” and “they are beautiful,” and under the cons column I would write “they aren’t real,” and “they’d be really expensive to take care of.”
For each side, keep writing as long as the responses are coming fairly easily to you. When you have to think hard to find items to go in a particular column, that’s the sign you are finished with it. When both sides are complete, compare lists to see which one is longer.
If your cons list is significantly longer, you are fairly negatively focused on the topic at hand. If instead it was much easier for you to write the pros list, you are positively focused on the topic. If the two columns are about even, your focus is fairly neutral.
Test 2: The Body Scan
This next test is a good test for people who are fairly intuitive and sensitive to energy. Not sure if you are sensitive to energy? Read “Are You Energy Sensitive”? 6 Telling Signs.”
For this test, simply ask yourself: “how do I feel about ________ (your relationship, your job, money, etc)?” Then, scan your body to feel how it responds.
If you feel your heart sing, or if you feel uplifted or any surge of positive energy, you are positively focused on the topic. When we positively focus on a particular topic, just thinking about it will make us instantly feel a little happier and more uplifted. You may also feel physically invigorated and stronger than usual.
If instead you feel deflated and your heart sinks, this is a good sign you are negatively focused on the given topic. Feelings of anxiety or anger are also good indicators of negative focus. You may also feel lethargic or become aware of aches and pains in your body.
Naturally, if there isn’t much of a response, your focus is neutral.
So the next time you find yourself wondering if you are being negative or positive about a given subject, test yourself and find out! Testing your focus will help you figure out whether you are in the process of reaching the goals you are setting for yourself or if instead you are moving in the opposite direction.
As a final note, if you find that you are negatively focused in regards to a particular goal that you have for yourself, worry not! There are lots of things you can do to adjust your focus and get turned back in the right direction to manifest the things you want. Read: “6 Ways to Train Your Mind to Stay Positive in a Setback.”
