Be free to express yourself
“Be free to express yourself” was written by guest contributor, Babajide Faseyi.
I remember a friend once telling me about how nervous she would get in social situations. Whenever a guy would ask for number, she would get really nervous and just give it to him with her already knowing that she did not plan to continue talking to the guy.
And it reminded me of how I too would get nervous in social situations as well. And the root cause of the reason I would get nervous was that I didn’t feel that I was good enough in some way.
I would feel that something wasn’t good enough about me. Be it my clothes, shoes, the way I talked or the way I looked.
And there truly might not have been anything wrong with my clothes or shoes and even if there was, the root cause of my being nervous in those situations was that I didn’t feel that I was good enough in some way or form.

But no matter what…
But no matter type of clothes or shoes you are wearing, no matter how you talk or look, the truth about you is that you are good enough. Remember this truth whenever you begin to feel nervous in any social situation. You are good enough just in the simple and natural way that you are, and there is no one that can ever take that away from you.
Blessings, Babajide

About the Author: My name is Babajide Faseyi. I was born and raised in Nigeria and then moved to the United States for college at the age of 19. In my 20’s, I became acutely aware that there was more to life than I had been taught and this led me to a deep search. I read voraciously. After a period of disillusionment with not having an outlet for the creativity that I felt within myself, I encountered Eckhart Tolle’s book, The Power of Now. And thus, the journey of knowing who I truly am and the discovery of what I have to offer creatively began.
