5 Ways to Commit to Your Happiness & Create a Better Life

If you understand the Law of Attraction and the power of positive thinking, then you are probably fairly aware that your happiness is very important.  When you are happy you are in the process of drawing more good things into your life!  So, in this article, I’ll share some ideas on how to commit to your happiness on a daily basis, so you can create life the way you wish it to be.

Now, before going on any further, let me first say that if you are having negative emotion, that is ok!  Attempting to block feelings of sadness, anxiety or anger only creates more negative emotions, so when you are in a bad place, allow yourself to feel your way through the pain.

I wholeheartedly believe that expressing your emotions is important, as bottling up negativity only creates more negativity.  Choosing to be happy is different than forcing yourself to be happy, and this is an important distinction to be mindful of.

While accepting your negative emotions is very important, it is equally important to commit to your happiness, and spend each day reaching for better thoughts and feelings if you wish to improve the quality of your life.  Making the choice to commit to your happiness is the single most important and effective thing you can do to help you reach your goals!

So, if you’re ready to commit to your happiness, here are 5 simple things you can do each day:

1. Set your intention to commit to your happiness:

Each day, before you set out to get everything done, first set a quick intention or say a short prayer to remind yourself of your commitment to be happy.  Tell yourself you are going to look for reasons to be happy, opportunities to have fun and things to appreciate.  Setting you intention to commit to your happiness immediately sets the tone for a happier day.

2. Pick at least one fun thing to do every day:

If you are like many of us, you may often feel very busy with all of your duties and responsibilities.  However, if you want to be a happier person, fun and enjoyment MUST be a priority!  Be sure to take time every single day to do something you enjoy, even (and especially) if you are busy.

3. Keep a happiness journal:

I think journalling is one of the very best things we can do to focus on the positive.  Just spending 5-10 minutes each day to write out all of the good things that have happened to you can be enough to help you realize that you are very blessed and have many reasons to be happy!

4. Stop and smell the roses:

How many of us miss the sunset each night,  quality time with our loved ones, or the scenery on the commute to work or school?  There are so many missed opportunities each day to appreciate the beauty, humor and love in life.

When an something catches your eye or an opportunity for fun arises, give yourself permission to stop whatever you’re doing and enjoy it as often as possible.  When we take time out for the good moments, more good moments are drawn to us through the Law of Attraction!

5. Choose to take breaks when the going gets tough:

Many people have a tendency to keep moving forward with the day’s activities, even when they aren’t a lot of fun.  Often, we trudge ahead, despite the fact that we are bored, frustrated or even in pain!

Remember, though, that negative feelings and sensations are always an indication that you are attracting more negative circumstances into your life.  Instead of charging ahead, when these signs arise, stop the negative momentum by taking a break!

Think of it as if you were an athlete.  If your knee is injured, would it be a good idea to keep running, jumping and doing knee bends and squats?  Of course not!  The knee will only get worse.

The same rule applies in all areas of life: if what you are doing is bothersome please STOP!  Take a break.  Get your energy moving in a positive direction and then try again later when you are feeling better.  You have to be in peak energetic condition to get the best results from your actions, so moving forward in the midst of negativity is a waste of your time and effort.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to commit to your happiness?  Becoming a happier person is 100% possible, and it’s something you can start to do right this minute.

Through intentions, prioritizing your fun, keeping a happiness journal, taking time to smell the roses and taking breaks you can set ourselves up for a more joyful life experience.  When you choose to be happy, you choose to create a better life!
