How I look at other people

“How I look at other people” was written by guest contributor, Babajide Faseyi.

The apple that I ate yesterday is now a part of me. You can’t see the apple now, because its essence has already dissolved into me. Also, the apple tree where the apple came from is also now a part of me, because I ate of the apple that came from that tree.

But I had been in a relationship with that apple tree before I ate the apple that came from it. I have heard that we have been helping each other to breathe ever since I started breathing. Because it what the trees breathe out that I breathe in, and it is what they breathe in that I breathe out.

It isn’t only plants and trees that make up what you see as me. The oceans are also a part of me, because they made the clouds that made the rain that fed the apple tree. The sun is a part of me because it shined the rays that made it possible for the apple to grow from that tree.

I must not look at anything that is beautiful in nature and say: I am not as beautiful as it. How can I not be as beautiful as something when that something is a part of me?

When you look at me, you are not looking at only me, you are looking at many more things that you are not immediately seeing. When I look at you, I am not looking at only you, I am looking at the entire beauty of nature combined into you. I am looking at the entire Universe that came packaged as the unique form of you.

Blessings, Babajide

About the Author: My name is Babajide Faseyi.  I was born and raised in Nigeria and then moved to the United States for college at the age of 19.  In my 20’s, I became acutely aware that there was more to life than I had been taught and this led me to a deep search.  I read voraciously.  After a period of disillusionment with not having an outlet for the creativity that I felt within myself, I encountered Eckhart Tolle’s book, The Power of Now.  And thus, the journey of knowing who I truly am and the discovery of what I have to offer creatively began.  The links to my facebook pages where my writings are posted are –facebook.com/bababajide and facebook.com/babajideinc.
