Since starting this website, I have had a number of people contact me to ask questions about the Law of Attraction and how to manifest their dreams.  While each of these people had different goals, many of them had the exact same problem: they were simply trying too hard!  So, I figure that trying too hard is a common Law of Attraction stumbling block.

Are you trying too hard? If you find that you are thinking about your desire every day or almost every day then yes, you probably are trying too hard.  To manifest your dream, you will want to loosen your grip and hand over control to the universe.

The thing about the Law of Attraction is that when it is applied appropriately, it works effortlessly.  This part of the Law of Attraction is hard for many people to fully grasp because it is counterintuitive to what we’ve always been taught.  Today, most people in our society believe you have to work hard to get what you want.

In fact, we’ve had it wrong all along. Getting what you want is easy!  Even if you have to do something to get to your dream, when the Law of Attraction is working in your favor you will never have to struggle.

Think about it, you probably expect that your car is going to start in the morning.  You probably expect that the grocery store will be open when you want to go shopping.  You probably expect that you’ll have a little fun this weekend.

You do not generally over think these things.  You probably do not obsess about them or meditate on them.  They are expectations that are under the surface and hardly thought about at all, yet they manifest for you regularly!

So one way to stop trying too hard is to remember that everything in your life is a manifestation of yours.  The television shows that you watch are manifestations of yours.  The electricity that powers your home is a manifestation of yours.  This article that you are reading right now is indeed a manifestation of yours.  You didn’t have to struggle or fight to receive any of these things.  When all’s said and done, they simply came to you.

This is how the Law of Attraction always works.  You have a belief, thought or expectation and the universe figures out a way to bring it to you. It’s never your job to hunt down a manifestation, it’s only your job to have thoughts, beliefs and expectations.  The better your thoughts, beliefs and expectations, the better your manifestations.

So why does thinking daily about your desire not work? This is because your underlying belief, thought or expectation about your desire is likely not a good one.  If you are thinking about your desire day after day, what you are most likely really thinking is “why hasn’t it showed up yet?” Therefore, the universe responds to this thought and continues not to bring it to you-because you are projecting a feeling of not having.

Instead of focusing so hard, you must approach your desire in the same way you have successfully approached anything that has ever manifested for you.  Think about it, decide what you want, and then let it go.  The quicker you can detach and let go, the quicker your dream will manifest.

For a little evidence to demonstrate that letting go works, think back to a time you were somewhat obsessed about something and then finally gave up the fight.  For example, maybe you were in traffic and getting really ticked off and finally you threw up your hands and said “Whatever, I give up! I’ll get there when I get there.”  Then, ironically, the traffic cleared and you were on your merry way.

This is a phenomenon that happens to all of us; when we really let go and quit worrying about our problem it tends to evaporate almost immediately.  When we leave it to the universe, and stop trying to control the outcome, our wishes manifest quickly and effortlessly.

In other words, always remember “a watched pot never boils!”  The guy who tries too hard never gets the girl.  The salesman who’s too pushy never gets the sale.  Stop fighting for your dream and let the universe deliver it to you easily.

So if you are trying too hard, it’s time to put down your desire. Stop thinking about it.  Distract yourself by coming up with new desires, or by doing something you enjoy.  Instead of focusing on your dream, spend your energy trying to raise your vibration and get happy.  Wanted manifestations occur faster when you are projecting high vibrational energy, so make raising your vibration your day-to-day concern and everything else will figure itself out.

Remind yourself that you’ve been fine without this dream so far.  Remind yourself that anything you’ve ever manifested has come to you when you didn’t obsess about it.  Then, distract yourself and do whatever you can to raise your vibration and be happy. A happy person will out-manifest a person who’s trying too hard EVERY.  SINGLE.  TIME.

    Very good article!! Just a question though!! Can I still think about my desire daily? Not constantly or all day long just a little bit to remind myself that this is what I want or just because its exciting to think about or just so that I don’t lose interest in it!! Thanks!!

    Hi Taylor, sure you can. The trick is to know what you want but to be flexible in how it comes. If you find you enjoy thinking about your desire, but you are happy where you are and you are open to it coming to you in a variety of ways, think away!

    So if you are trying to grow taller, and you apply this law, you can visualize for sometime and then let go right? Visualizing does not mean obsession right? And law of attraction can make physical changes too right?
