Get Over Your Spending Guilt & Manifest More Money
Would you like to manifest more money with the Law of Attraction? My guess is yes, because in my experience, money is the #1 thing people try to manifest more of when they first learn about conscious creation.
There is, however, something that can interfere with manifesting more money, and it’s something many of us have: spending guilt.
Here’s the thing, when we feel badly about spending money, we project feelings of “lack” out into the universe. When we project feelings of lack, the universe brings us more reasons to feel lack. It’s a vicious cycle.
The truth is, to manifest more money, we need to be projecting feelings of abundance, not lack! Even when the money is leaving our hands, we need to feel good about it.
Unfortunately, spending guilt is something many of us have been trained into projecting. Most parents, teachers and financial “gurus” will tell you it’s wise for you to save your pennies.
There is a very widespread limiting belief about money that you have to save it in order to be prosperous.
Now, while we’d all like to have some more cash in the bank, this focus on saving often translates into a fear of spending. We believe that in order to have money we can’t spend it, and this can create some real problems when you are trying to manifest more money. If every time you spend your money you feel fear, you’ll never really be able to accumulate the kind of dollars you really want to see in your account!

I personally was raised in a family that was hyper-focused on saving. My parents lived by the motto of “waste not want not.” They were the champions of saving.
They kept the same appliances for decades, scrimped on vacations and luxuries, and avoided spending unnecessarily at all costs. Back in the 80s, I was one of the only kids in the neighborhood who didn’t have cable, air conditioning or even an answering machine.
To my parents, these were luxuries we could live without. It was more important to our family to have the money in the bank.
My parents saved money because they truly believed it benefitted our family, and I am grateful to have had parents that cared so much about providing for us. Indeed, they were able to provide a solid financial footing for our family, so I’ll be the first to tell you that saving money can benefit you, especially if you believe that it is that important.
I think my parents prove that you can provide for your family and take care of your needs through saving. It can be done, so please don’t worry that if you have spending guilt you are going to be poor.
However, through my work with the Law of Attraction I’ve come to learn that to become truly prosperous, you have to feel just as good about spending the money as you do about earning it. You have to feel financial freedom, not just financial stability.
When first learned about the Law of Attraction and started applying it to my financial situation, I soon found that my beliefs about spending were a major impediment.
When I would purchase a small luxury I wanted, like a new handbag or even a magazine at the grocery store, a wave of regret and guilt would wash over me. I knew that feeling good was the trick to the Law of Attraction, so this negative response alerted me to the fact that my spending guilt was projecting feelings of lack.
So, getting comfortable with spending became one of my first Law of Attraction endeavors. I’m still a work in progress in this department, but the success I’ve had from getting more comfortable has yielded me some pretty fantastic results.
Before working on my spending guilt I was trapped in an underwater home, driving an affordable car everyday to a job where I was overworked and underpaid.
I desperately wanted to take at least a year off of work when my children were born, but we weren’t able to swing it. I was back to work just 7 weeks after my daughter was born. If you’ve given birth to children, you know how hard it is to leave a little infant so early. It’s gut-wrenching.
We were able to pay the bills, and we had financial stability, but we certainly weren’t free.
Today I drive exactly the car I want to drive, I live in a beautiful home with equity in a gated community and I work because I want to, not because I have to. I don’t tell you this to brag, but just to prove the point: erasing spending guilt can have profound results.
So, what can you do about spending guilt? How do you erase that guilt so you can manifest more money?
Here’s something easy I’ve learned that works well for me: focus on the good that comes from spending.
Often, when we spend our money, we become focused on negative-projecting thoughts like “I didn’t really need that,” “I could have saved that money for something else,” or “that was a wasteful purchase.”
If thoughts like these cross your mind regularly when you spend, here is an idea for you to focus on the next time you go shopping:Think about the way that your purchase is going to positively impact other people.
For example, through purchasing an item, you are pumping more money into the economy. Because of your purchases, people have jobs, and are able to put food on their tables. Because of your purchases, businesses stay in business, and products that we all appreciate continue to be circulated.
People put their kids through college, pay their elderly parent’s medical bills and donate to charity with money that you’ve personally put back into the economy. There’s a lot of good that has resulted from your spending, if you really think about it.
So each time you spend money, take a moment to pat yourself on the back for contributing to the financial health of humanity. Take a moment to be grateful for your ability to give back financially through your purchases.

Thinking about how your purchases help the world is a much more empowering and positive thought to project into the universe, and it is one that will help you manifest more money. If you feel good about your ability to spend, and you feel that spending is helping the world, it will become easier and more fruitful for you to do so.
With the Law of Attraction, we get what we focus on. Instead of focusing on how inappropriate your spending is, try to focus on how your spending is creating good things in the world. This will help you project the right kind of vibe to feel good about spending money and to help mankind at the same time.
I hope you enjoy this new way of thinking about spending, and that it helps you erase some of the spending guilt that may be holding you back. If you have any thoughts about this new way of thinking, comment below and share them with me!
Happy Manifesting! XO, Andrea

I am just starting a new company in Estonia,
Selling wooden houses.
Our bankroll for our page and firm is almost depleated, but the feeling that our energy and spending in the last year is going to pay off eventually gives me more strenght and positivity.
Maybe your webpage also could use SEO, searc engine optimization, so you would reach to more people that could use your information.
If you havent already done, that, i suggest to reasearch it.
best intentions,
Rener

Hi, whenever I feel guilty for buying anything for myself,I start thanking the opportunity which is created out of my desire for buying what exactly I wanted….Then next time I get another surprised opportunity to buy new one again…
This is how I feel LAO works for me…

Hi Anonymous! That is another excellent way to adjust those thoughts-being grateful for the opportunity. I love that. Thanks for sharing <3

Hi Andrea, this article is exactly what I need. I still feel a lot of guilt when I spend money. I also know I talk about and complain about how things cost too much. Do you know of a way I can turn that around? I usually don’t catch myself until after I’ve said it, then I think, that’s probably not helpful.
Andrea Schulman
Hi Colleen!
I’ve found that instead of trying too hard to “stop” thinking/saying something, it can be easier to just focus on trying to “start” thinking/saying the opposite more frequently. Try to add the phrase “I can afford that!” into your thought process on a more consistent and deliberate basis. When you are checking out at the grocery store, for example, remind yourself “I can afford these groceries.” When you see something you like that is expensive, but you technically have the funds for it, remind yourself “I could afford that!”
Making a deliberate attempt to focus on phrases like “I can afford that” will get you more into alignment with the belief structure that you have the means to support yourself financially, AND that you are able to afford lots and lots of things (which, you already do!).
I hope you find this helpful!
XO, Andrea

Excellent! I will do that. I just started using the technique you mentioned in this article, remembering that what I spend is helping someone else or that business and I do get a feeling of relief. Yay! Thanks for the tips Andrea!

You’re welcome Colleen! 🙂

This post totally resonates with me. I grew up with that same mindset and and indeed it affected other areas like work, getting married, where everything was a struggle.
It’s been 2 years now that I’ve been thinking differently about spending…and yes, I understand what you mean by being a work in progress…so easy to slip back into old thought patterns.
Before I spend now, I take a few minutes imagining that whatever I spend will come back to me multiplied.
I also work up a feeling of gratitude of how blessed I am to have this money to spend as I
Andrea Schulman
Funny you should mention that Nas, that is another thought I often put out there…the idea of whatever I spend being multiplied. That’s a good one, huh? 🙂
