5 Choices You Can Make to Turn Your Mood Around Now
Sometimes happiness comes easily, and sometimes it doesn’t. In moments when we are feeling unpleasant it’s always a good idea to remember that we always have a choice to focus our thoughts in a more positive direction.
So the next time you feel like you need an attitude adjustment, make these five choices to turn your mood around quickly and easily!
1. Of the available options right now, choose the one that’s most appealing
We often have a lot of things on our daily “to do” list. This doesn’t mean that we have to struggle through the day though. Flexibility can be the key to a little more happiness in the here and now.
Don’t feel like doing the laundry right now? Fine! Pick something else off the list. Life’s too short to drag your way through the day. Be willing to let go of things that seem like too much of a struggle at the present moment and attend to other tasks that will bring you more enjoyment.
2. Look around, and choose to count your blessings
Feeling crappy? Look around. Chances are you will be able to identify quite a few people around you who are having bigger troubles than you are in the current moment. As the old saying goes, “if we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d grab ours back.” Gain some perspective to feel happier about your current situation.
3. Choose to look through the eyes of your past self
Another thing that you can do to feel happier in the moment is look back on how far you’ve come in life. There was a time when you didn’t have all of the things that you now do, and the old you probably would have loved to be standing in your current shoes. Think back to moments like these to gain clarity and gratitude for where you are right now.
4. Choose to smile, and walk tall
Our body language can affect how we feel. When you want to turn your mood around, act as if you already have!

We all have off moments, but the more we choose pleasant thoughts and pleasant feelings the easier they come to us. Every effort we put into feeling more positive has a positive effect on our future.
We have the choice to be mostly grumpy people or mostly happy-go-lucky people (or any variation in between). In moments where we feel less than positive, these five choices can help lift our spirits and get us back on track.
