Using Distraction to Raise Your Vibration
Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like complete garbage and just couldn’t shake the feeling? Maybe you were sick, had allergies or were going through a breakup or fight with a loved one. No matter the reason, you were stuck in a rut and just couldn’t seem to get out of it.
In times like these, many people turn to friends and family for help. This is probably because we live in a culture that teaches us that we need to talk about our problems. We feel the need to dig deep and understand why we are hurting or upset.
I whole-heartedly disagree with this approach. No problem was ever solved by bitching and complaining about it. Do yourself a favor and resist the urge to use your friends and family as a sounding board for your woes.
The Law of Attraction will bring you more of what you are thinking about and talking about, so if you really want to feel better you mustn’t follow the herd on this one.
It’s critical that you find a way to break the cycle of negative thinking if you want to start feeling better.
Fortunately, in challenging times distracting yourself can often be a very easy way to break this cycle. All you have to do is concentrate your thoughts on something outside of yourself.
Once you are engaged in your distraction, the upsetting feelings will subside and you won’t even notice them. You will no longer be focused on the pain, the runny nose, or the tears. Rather, you will be fixated on your distraction, which will help your vibration to lift.
Here’s a few quick suggestions of ways to distract yourself:
*reading books, articles, blogs, etc.
*going for a walk and observing your surroundings
*going to the movies (preferably something highly interesting to you and/or funny)
*playing games/video games
*working out, playing sports
*watching TV
*meditation
*sleep
*doing housework or yard work (this might not be as much fun as some of the other options, but your environment will look nicer when you are done which will continue to lift your spirits even after the task is completed)
There are any number of activities you could choose from to distract yourself in times of distress, and the one that you choose should be the one that feels right to you. Pick whatever sounds the most appealing in that moment.
Whatever activity you choose, just make sure that it doesn’t have anything to do with your problem: don’t talk about your problem, blog about it, post it on Facebook, tweet it or write about it. The whole objective is to completely take your issue off of the table to keep you from falling down the rabbit hole of negativity.
One last note, it’s normal to see some of your symptoms come back when you are done with your distraction. Keep finding new things to keep your mind busy and off of your problems. Your vibration will stay higher this way, and this higher vibration will help you resolve your problems much more quickly than if you chose to wallow in them. Be good to yourself!
