10 Simple Ways to Get Happy Now

If you are a student of the Law of Attraction, by now you probably understand the importance of getting happy.  We live in a feeling universe, and in order to manifest the things we want, we must first project good feelings in order to attract them.  For this reason, it’s just so important to get happy now!

Fortunately, there are lots of easy things that you can do at any time to get happy now.  Below is a short list of things I’ve learned to use to improve my mood.  Try them out and see how they work for you!

1. Listen to music:

This one is first on my list because it’s my favorite! Music has the power to inspire feelings within us very quickly, so turn on some of your favorite tunes.  Just be mindful that when we are feeling down we are much more likely to select sad or angry music, so be careful to pick songs that are upbeat and make you feel happy.

2. Go for a drive:

Going for a drive is something I’ve always found that makes me feel good.  Moving around out in the world is naturally distracting and has a soothing and inspiring effect. Be sure to pick the most scenic route for the best results.

Please note: This suggestion is best for people who aren’t feeling too particularly low.  If you feel extremely sad or angry, wait until you feel a little better to take a drive!

3. Watch funny and inspiring videos:

Watching funny videos is another quick mood fix.  Fortunately with YouTube, finding funny videos is a snap.  Here are a few videos I enjoy watching, feel free to check them out to get a quick mood lift.

4. Think about the person/people you love the most:

When life’s got you down, close your eyes for a minute and think about the person you love the most and all of their characteristics you adore.  For example, sometimes I will focus on my daughter’s beautiful smile, my son’s adorable dimples or my husband’s loving hugs.  Thoughts like these make you feel good all over.

5. Spend some time doing a hobby you love:

What do you love to do more than anything else in the world? When life’s got you down, stop doing whatever you’re doing and engage in your favorite hobby!  For me, I really enjoy learning about technology, so when things are bugging me I will pick a program I’ve been wanting to learn and take a stab at learning how to use it.  Doing what you love is always a good idea.

6. Call a funny friend/relative:

I absolutely love funny people and I’m fortunate to have a lot of funny people in my life.  If you’re having a hard time thinking of a reason to smile, call someone who is an expert in cracking jokes and having fun.

7. Think about one of the best things that ever happened to you:

You have a massive database of good-feeling material in the archives of your memory.  When you need a lift, think back to that time you fell in love, won the big game or got that massive promotion.  Thinking back on fond memories gets you back into the emotional state you were in when they happened to you.

8. Think about something exciting that’s coming up in your future:

Much like thinking back on good memories, thinking about good things to come is also a great idea.  Pick something that’s coming up on your schedule that makes you feel really good.  Perhaps you have a vacation coming up, you’re graduating in a couple of months or you’re meeting up with your friends this weekend.  Let your thoughts linger on these future happy events a little.

9. Dance:

I love to dance, so this is a really good one for me.  Sometimes its fun just to lock the door, put on my headphones and dance! I’ve also really enjoyed  having dance parties with my little kids, and their smiles and laughter make it even more fun.

10. Sing:

I’m not much a singer, but if you are, use that skill to your advantage! Singing is all about being in the flow, which is precisely where we are when we are in a good mood. Just be sure to pick a song that makes you feel good.

For extra points, try doing a few of these together. For example, listen to happy music while driving or thinking about the person you love the most!
