3 Ways to Start Your Morning With Good Vibes

Do you usually start your morning right? Or are your mornings often a real drag?

For me, it can go both ways if I’m not careful on how I get my day started.

I get up around 6:00 am each morning, get both of my kids up and dressed, feed them breakfast, make their lunches, get myself put together and then either me or my husband drive the kids to school.

It’s a lot to do first thing in the morning. I’m sure many readers can relate to the early morning hustle!

Because there’s so much to do and everyone is still pretty sleepy early on, the mornings have the potential to be pretty brutal. When my kids (or I!) don’t want to get out of bed and get moving, it can really ruin my vibe!

So to start my mornings off as pleasantly as possible, I’ve been developing a few ways to improve my mood (and my kids’ moods!) as early as possible, so we get the day started off on a good note.

Here are a few things that have been working for me. Try them out and see if they work for you!

1. Early rising:

I know a lot of people love to hit the snooze button as long as possible, but I know that waking up a little early can be a HUGE benefit, because it can give you the opportunity to transition into your day in a much more pleasant way.

As for me, the reason why I wake up a little early each morning is so I can start my day with a few inspirational YouTube video clips before I get going.

Each day, I wake up about 20-30 minutes early, turn on the lights (to wake me up a little), grab my coffee and then go curl up on the couch with my smart phone and a cozy blanket. Then, I jump on YouTube with my headphones and watch motivational video clips or clips of spiritual teachers (like Abraham-Hicks or Bashar).

This works wonders for getting me started on a positive note, and it is an extremely comfortable transition into the waking state.

Instead of racing into action, I get the opportunity to gently rise while programming myself with some positive messaging right at the start of my day. By the time my coffee kicks in, I’m feeling much more motivated to get out of bed and get to work.

Here are a few good video clips to start with if your interested in trying this idea out!

2. Morning affirmations:

Another thing you can do to start your morning right is spend a few moments early on affirming your desire to appreciate and enjoy your day.

While I’m getting ready in the morning I’ll tell myself things like “I’m looking forward to seeing what good things come to me today,” “I know the best thing I can do today is focus on feeling as good as possible” or “Today I’m going to look for things to appreciate.”

I also do a play on morning affirmations with my kids. While sitting at breakfast or in the car on the way to school I’ll ask my son and daughter: “What is your wish for the day?” We then have a full conversation about what their hopes are for the day.

3. Upbeat music:

Usually I listen to music on my iPhone when I put my makeup on and do my hair, and also when I drive the kids to school. However, today I had a genius idea to take this routine a step further. Why not play music at breakfast for the kids?

My kids get up and the first thing they do is head over to the breakfast table. Some mornings, they’re up and ready to go, but today-not so much!

So this morning I asked the kids if they wanted to have a “Breakfast Disco” and we put on some thumping club music while the kids ate their toast and bananas.

Instead of slumping in their seats, pushing their food around on their plates and grouching about being tired, they were both bouncing up and down and smiling.

We kept it bumping in the house while they got dressed and brushed their teeth. Needless to say, everyone was dressed and ready pretty quickly, and in a much better mood than usual.

I’m definitely adding this one to the morning program!

So, what do you think about these routines?

I really feel that the small efforts I make to improve my vibe (and my kids’ vibes) in the morning have made a significant difference in the quality of my life. By the time I’m ready to sit down to check my email and write my daily blog I’m feeling great, and this good feeling has become easier and easier to extend into the rest of my day.

Do you have any routines to start your morning right? If so, feel free to share them with me! I’m always looking for new ways to get aligned, especially at the beginning of the day.

Have a great day! XO, Andrea

Thanks Bobby! Yeah, back when I was younger I was DEFINITELY NOT a 6am person. Having kids really changed my morning routine. Have a great weekend:)

Beautiful article Andrea 🙂 I love your morning routine 🙂 My morning routine is similar with morning affirmations as well. Before I get out of bed I stay there for about 5-10 minutes just saying all the things I’m grateful for like being alive to create another beautiful day and being healthy and happy. This morning I was very grateful for the beautiful sunshine beaming through my windows and the clear blue skies 🙂 I picture how I want my day to go then as my feet hit the floor I say thank you. Then I brush my teeth then I do a 20 minute yoga practice followed by meditation then a healthy yummy breakfast 🙂

    Breakfast disco… brilliant!

I use an aromatherapy diffuser in my son’s room at night to help him get to sleep (lavender works wonders!) …but when he has trouble getting up in the morning, I put in some orange oil. The vibrant smell wakes him up quickly, making the transition much easier. It even brings a smile to his face. I absolutely love seeing him wake up with a smile. It’s a win-win!

Hi Tina! I’ve only recently started dabbling in essential oils…I will have to try that one. Thanks for the tip! <3
