Some people have heard about the Law of Attraction (LOA) and have tried to use it to their advantage, but have not had the success they are looking for. Often, this person will either seem disappointed, overwhelmed, or even sometimes angry when discussing the LOA. Upset and frustrated, they simply want to know: “Why can’t I manifest what I want?”
There can be quite a few reasons that someone has difficulty manifesting their dreams with the Law of Attraction. Here are three of the more common ones.
Why Can’t I Manifest What I Want? Reason #1: Starting Too Big
Many people watch “The Secret” or hear about the LOA from a friend and immediately decide to put it to good use and try to manifest the new job, the new relationship or the lottery jackpot. While it is completely possible that this would work for some people, for the vast majority it won’t.
The reason why it is best not to start too big is because “big” usually means “vibrationally very far away.” If you’ve never thought that you would ever win the lottery jackpot, that enduring life belief probably isn’t going to be replaced by optimism and expectation overnight.
This is why it is best to start small. Start small with silly little things that don’t mean too much to you (like attracting a parking space, or some good coupons at the grocery store). When you start to see it working on a very small scale, up the ante to something a little bigger (like winning $50 on a scratch-off, or getting a small raise at your job).
Keep moving slowly up the chain, and don’t be in a hurry to get right to the big stuff. Your vibration needs to adjust into the place of expectation before you will manifest what you really want. Besides, it’s fun to manifest the little stuff and watch yourself improve! You don’t want to cheat yourself out of the excitement of the learning process.
Don’t look at the Law of Attraction as something that has to work on just one big thing. Instead, view it as a process that you can use every day to gradually improve every facet of your life.
Why Can’t I Manifest What I Want? Reason #2: Watching Too Closely
We have a tendency to watch to see when something happens. We notice when we are passed over for promotion, we complain when it’s taking too long for Mr. Right to show up and we step on the scale every day to see if the weight is coming off.
When we watch too closely, what we are really projecting out into the universe is disbelief. If we honestly believed that what we wanted was going to manifest, we wouldn’t have to check. We would just expect it. This is why watching too closely doesn’t work; it projects disbelief rather than belief. Disbelief prevents manifestations from occurring.
If you find that you are always checking to see if your manifestation is showing up, it might be a good idea to let this desire go for a while and practice on something else that you can muster a bit more believability in.
With time, you’ll find that believability will improve for more and more of your goals. Again, it’s always best to start on the small end and work your way up. What’s the rush?
Why Can’t I Manifest What I Want? Reason #3: The LOA Is Not As Simple As You Think
While the Law of Attraction, at its root, is a simple process (ask for what you want, believe you can get it and then receive it), for many people it is not so simple. This is because most of us must unlearn a lot of mental habits we’ve been practicing for a long time before we will be able to intentionally use the Law of Attraction effectively.
Many of us are in the practice of using negative language, focusing on our problems, blaming other people or circumstances for our place in life or are just generally very pessimistic. With engrained habits like these, it can be just about impossible to simply “ask, believe and receive,” because there are too many negative thoughts that interfere with the process.
For example, I’ve heard people say things before like “Yeah, I heard about the Law of Attraction. I thought about a new car but it didn’t show up in my driveway the next day! What a load of crap!” Ok, fair enough. But can you hear the negativity in this statement? How could someone with such a critical and sarcastic view of the world ever be in a place of expecting good things to happen to them?
This is why it’s best to consider the LOA as a skill that needs to be mastered, rather than a one-time action that anyone should be able to do on command. Instead of trying once or twice and giving up, it’s best to spend sometime evaluating and improving our thoughts, behaviors and actions in order to manifest more effectively .
It’s not just about finding the right affirmation, or using the right visualization technique. It’s about training your mind into chronic, positive expectations in all areas of your life, even when you experience setbacks. This is going to take most people a little bit of time, so be patient, and enjoy the journey. Notice the small improvements you make along the way, and get excited about your progress. You don’t have to figure it all out in one fell swoop.
You may have noticed that the main theme running through this article is about building gradually. Not a one of us masters anything immediately, and the LOA is no different. If you really want to know “Why can’t I manifest what I want?” the answer is always that there is something you need to learn first.
You couldn’t become a skilled surgeon overnight, and you probably aren’t going to become a Law of Attraction master overnight. However, if you commit yourself to become a student of the Law of Attraction, you will start to improve and enhance your manifesting skills.
Be patient with yourself and with the process. You are learning the things that you need to know in order to manifest the things that you want. The stumbling blocks you are encountering are simply learning opportunities to prepare you for manifesting the big-ticket items down the road. Take the opportunity to learn from your struggles, and you will soon blossom into a master creator!
