You Don’t Have to Be Happy All The Time-It’s OK to Be Upset!
I think there is some disconnect at times when it comes to the Law of Attraction. The general message of all of the Law of Attraction material out there is that it’s important to stay positive and be happy to manifest the things you want. While this is absolutely true, there are going to be times when you have negative emotions, and that’s ok. You don’t have to be happy all the time!
I think it is fairly common for people to struggle with allowing negative emotions without judging or feeling guilty about them, particularly when they are trying to master the Law of Attraction. If we believe we are only supposed to be happy and positive, we might feel like we have to mask any negativity that pops up in our lives. We might feel like failures when we get upset.
This is problematic because when we bury our negative feelings or are disappointed in them, they tend to stick around longer. When we don’t accept our negativity, we basically tell ourselves “I can’t feel upset!” Ironically, when you tell yourself you can’t feel upset, that feeling is exactly what you manifest more of because you get whatever you are focused on. Denying negativity paradoxically only creates more negativity within you.
So for me, I’ve learned it’s best to accept and allow my negative moments. Yes, I get mad from time to time. Yes, I experience sadness. Yes I have negative thoughts about people, events and situations when things fail to go smoothly. It’s ok, I’m human!
Through accepting my frustrations, sadness and anger I’ve found these emotions are easier to release and move on from. Rather than pretending I’m ok or guilting myself for my emotions, I acknowledge my negativity, allow it to be what it is, and it becomes much easier to let go of it and keep moving forward. By accepting the negativity, I neutralize any guilt or fear I have about my feelings, and this keeps them from becoming bigger than they need to be.
Think about it, say these statements slowly in your head and identify which one feels better: “I’m not allowed to be mad” or “It’s ok to be mad?” Which one is more soothing? Which one would help you raise your vibration a little bit in the midst of a heated moment? Which one would make you feel worse?
Through intentionally choosing positive thoughts but also accepting my negative moments I’ve found I can be upset when someone cuts me off in traffic without letting it ruin the rest of my drive. I’ve found I can get mad when someone says something offensive to me without holding a grudge. I’ve started to see it isn’t about my knee-jerk reactions, it’s about whether or not I choose to dwell in them.
So when negative emotions arise, go easy on yourself because it’s ok to have a negative response. Just decide you want to dwell in the positive, but when negative emotions arise you will permit them. This way you will intentionally choose good thoughts and feelings as often as you can, but you will also allow yourself to be human, and this will make any negative feelings you have easier to move through and release.
At the end of the day, using the Law of Attraction effectively is about learning how to deliberately choose better thoughts and feelings from wherever you stand, not about avoiding or denying your emotions. Accepting and allowing momentary negativity is a choice that will bring you greater peace than if you choose to beat up on yourself for having a human reaction.
Go easy on yourself and remember-you don’t have to be happy all the time. It’s ok to be upset sometimes!

Just what i needed! I have had a fantastic couple of months soaring on high vibes and being joyful – lol crash and burn when negativity hit – I did recover with ‘choosing to be calm, and happy in this moment’ and it did work – like oil on troubled waters – and on balance, yes I am a human being the physical vehicle used by my soul to express and experience itself – therefore – emotions of all hues are part and parcel of the whole package, thank you for the timely reminder : ) xx
